Refund Policies

Approved October 24, 2007

Cub Scout Day, Webelos, and Scouts BSA Summer Camps Refund Policy

1.  All requests must be made in writing and received by the Juniata Valley Council Service Center at least two weeks prior to the start of the camp.
2.  Any last minute refunds will only be given for extenuating circumstances (i.e. death in the family, major illness).
3.  Refunds will not be given for a change of mind, vacation plans, summer school, extended sport schedules, or no shows.
4.  Refunds will not be given once the session of camp has begun.
5.  Fees may be transferred from one Scout to another within the same unit.
6.  Because many expenses occur 6 weeks prior to the start of camp, the Juniata Valley Council reserves the right to withhold an administrative fee as follows:
    A.  Webelos or Scouts BSA Summer Camp = $75.00 per person for any refund given
    B.  Cub Scout Day = $ 25.00 per person for any refund given 

Any refund will be issued by check, normally within two weeks of the request and made payable to the name listed on the receipt.

Council / District Activity Refund Policy

Due to the lead time for expenses associated with most Council or District Activities, refunds will not be issued.

Facility Rental Refund Policy

Seven Mountains Scout Camp is open 365 days a year.  In the event the camp, weather conditions or roads to get to the facility are deemed hazardous by the Juniata Valley Council a full refund will be issued.  Notice will be posted on the Council website (www.jvcbsa.org), camp answering machine or the Council Service Center.

2. Requests made after the two-week lead-time will only be issued if the facility can be rented during the same period. Last minute refunds will only be given for extenuating circumstances.
3. Refunds will not be given once the rental period has begun.

National Jamboree National High Adventure Base (Philmont, Sea Base, Northern Tier) Refund Policy

1. All deposits are non-refundable.
2. All requests must be made in writing and received by the Juniata Valley Council Service Center.
3. Once payments have been made, refunds will only be issued if the spot is filled by another Scout or adult.
4. Refunds will not be given for a change of mind, vacation plans, summer school, extended sport schedules, or no shows.
5.  For refunds a check will be issued, generally within two weeks of the request.

Scout Shop Refund Policy

1. No Refunds or exchanges after 30 days.
2. Sales receipts must accompany all refund requests.
3. Items without a receipt may be exchanged for an item of equal or lesser value
4. Unless defective, all merchandise must be resalable, clean, free of wear and defect.  Clothing items may not have been laundered.
5. For refunds paid by cash or check a check from the Juniata Valley Council will be issued, generally within two weeks of the request.
6. Refunds will not be issued for items purchased at another Scouting distributor or through the National Supply Division catalog.
7. Credit cards will be given credit through the issuer.
